Yahoo Launches Seach Pad Beta

So Yahoo is showing some innovation? I guess they got tired of Google doing all the heavy lifting in the innovation area. This offering looks fairly interesting. The feature is called Search Pad and it’s deployed as part of the Yahoo Search area. It’s for use when doing research on the Internet.

Yahoo describes Search Pad as follows:

“Search Pad is a note taking application built into Yahoo! Search that automatically assists you in saving websites you visit and taking notes as you search. Search Pad helps you collect, edit, organize, save, print, and email your notes for immediate or future use.

“Search Pad is helpful in completing tasks and making decisions that require collecting information over multiple search sessions such as making a large purchase, planning a vacation or gathering information on a health issue.”

How to Use Search Pad

Using it is pretty simple. Go to Yahoo and run a search. On the search results page, at the upper right below the Yahoo logo you’ll see a Search Pad BETA image. Click on that and you’ll access Search Pad.

You need to log in to a Yahoo account to manage your notes.

Also, perhaps not surprisingly, the application  does not work in Google’s Chrome browser. However, in all fairness, the Chrome browser has sporadic issues with certain JavaScript and Ajax sites and Search Pad appears to be an Ajax or Ajax-like implementation.
