Two NEW Google SEO (Beta) Keyword Tools!
As you all may or may not be aware the work involved in finding and evaluating keywords can be a daunting task at best. If you are serious about finding keywords that will generate traffic to your website, that don’t already have an insurmountable amount of competition, and that work well with your existing content then you’ll need some keyword search software. We use WordTracker software (www.wordtracker.com), which is a great tool. However, new tools are coming out all the time and we try and take a look at them.
New Tools From Google
Recently Google released two new tools (actually they are still in Beta Testing) which are both FREE and offer website owners a great tool to find keywords. Here is a breakdown of both tools:
Google Search Based Keyword Tool
Google provide the following explanation for this tool:
“The Search-based Keyword Tool generates keyword and landing page ideas highly relevant and specific to your website. In doing so, the tool helps you identify additional advertising opportunities that aren’t currently being used in your AdWords ad campaigns [if you are using AdWords]. The tool goes one step further by tailoring the keywords and other data (such as the amount of competition for the keyword, the suggested bid, and more) based on your language or country/territory settings.
“Based on your URLs, the Search-based Keyword Tool displays a list of relevant user queries that have occurred on Google.com (and on other Google search properties, such as google.co.uk) with some frequency over the past year.”
If you are using Pay Per Click and/or AdWords this is a great tool to find those cost-effective keywords to tailor your campaign towards. It can also be used to find those great niche keywords that you can optimize your website for to organically generate the web traffic.

Google Insights for Search
Google provide the following explanation for this tool:
“Google Insights for Search analyzes a portion of worldwide Google web searches from all Google domains to compute how many searches have been done for the terms you’ve entered, relative to the total number of searches done on Google over time. You can choose to see data for select Google properties, including Web search, Image search, Product search, and News search (certain properties aren’t currently available in all countries/territories).
“Keep in mind that Insights for Search uses data aggregated over millions of users without personally identifiable information, and is powered by computer algorithms. Additionally, it only shows results for search terms that receive a significant amount of traffic, and enforces minimum thresholds for inclusion in the tool.”
What does this mean to you?
If you sell a product or service you can see where in the Country, City, State, etc people are searching for that product allowing you to really target your online and offline marketing. The tool will also give you other similar keywords allowing you to adjust your site to utilize heavier trafficked keywords.Â
